Beautiful but dont know what

Phew, that was a lot of research. OEGs are a very wide category of breed

I visited the APA website for an official ruling, and they do not yet recognize Silver Laced in OEGB's : http://www.amerpoultryassn.com/APA_ShoppingMall3.htm

However
, just because the coloration is not yet recognized doesn't mean that this isn't a project bird like I speculated earlier. There's always new varieties that breeders are working on.

if its a project color then how can a hatchery offer it?

edit: i have seen many of those colors on ideal poultry's site to hmmmm why do they come in so many colors for so long and not be reconized yet

I've often wondered that too, but my guess is that they are a business, and want to offer as much variety as possible. Unfortunately, in this situation, it's a bad thing because the OP wants to know if this bird is showable. Which according to the American Poultry Association, it is not.

But I think if they just want to call it a Silver Laced OEGB at home, more power to them

You know, I'm not familiar with shows beyond county fairs, but I do know that most fairs allow for aov showing. That is a good idea for the OP. It is a pretty roo.

As far as showing him I have no clue, I don't show any of mine to know. He does look like Silver Laced OEGB that Ideal has listed, and more than likely can be found at other hatcheries. He does appear to have some gold leakage in some of his feathers, but that could just be me.

Many colors and breeds start as a project bird. New varieties can be recognized after they meet the requirements. Same as what people are doing with the Lavender Orpington......one day that might be a recognized color of the breed just not yet.

I think he is very stunning and would defiantly say to at least try to show him if you want.
