We had a beautiful day today. So I thought it was the perfect opportunity to share some beautiful ducks!

The Adventure Trio had a very eventful past few days. They met lots of new friends: a neighborhood girl who thinks chasing my ducks is amusing, a bunch of wild mallards who think swimming in our pool is funny, and a skunk who wishes he was a duck because duck food is so delicious.

We took today off from the stressful world and relaxed in the sun for hours!
Here's Finn in the back, Jake in the middle, and TreeTrunks upfront, showing off her freckles.

My boy Finn, enjoying the sun.

Jake's ready for her close up.

This video cracks me up every time! TreeTrunks pushes Finn out of the pool and when he comes back in angry she passively submits and offers herself to him. He refuses, pride hurt, and then the two girls vie for his attention. Oh the joys of duck love.

Taking a nap, it's what we do best.

I can't wait til my babies are that big. They are only 12 days old right now. Those are some adorable pictures. I am so anxious for them to grow up and walk out of the chicken yard with me.

I want to see them rummage around the yard and maybe put their heads down and squawk at the dogs.

The dogs ran from our last duck, an adopted grown Perkins.

Thanks everyone! I love these boogers to death.

Mahonri- They sure are messy! I'm amazed at how white they stay.

TattooedKeeper3- Well they definitely grow up fast, so it shouldn't be long! what kind do you have? Any pictures? Ducklings pic are simply the best!

I confirmed yesterday morning I have Black Indian Runners. I took them out of the coop into the chicken yard for the first time yesterday. It was only for a few minutes as they started to get very anxious and want back inside. They ran straight up like a runner. It really is like a fluffy bowling pin with legs when they run. They are already chasing my year old hens. I don't think the Ladies were to pleased about that. When it is warm enough out after sunrise I will spend more time out in the chicken yard with them. Give them a chance to really stretch their legs.

I am hoping the more I get to see them interact with the adult hens and myself they will tell me what their names will be.

Melissamerry, I love your avatar pic. Those ducklings are precious.

These bottom two picture are from when I first brought them home from Tractor Supply on March 1st.

How darling! How many are there? I can't wait to get some runners. I love their awkward "teen" phase when they have huge feet!

Thanks! The avatar picture was from the summer. They were a few months old. That picture sums up their personalities perfectly. Finns in front, always in charge. TreeTrunks is in the middle not really sure what's going on, and Jake is sleeping. Like always! That's when I was unsure of her gender.
