Ah.....So if you are NPIP you cannot bring home any birds that do not come from a NPIP place? Can't you quarantine it until it can be tested as well?

Here is the scoop on how VA does it.

I called the Ag guy. He gave me a list of folks nearby who will test all of my birds (over 4 months old) for Pollurum (sp?). They may charge me a travel fee to come out to the coop.

Then they send the results to Ag guy. If all are clear, there is an app that I have to fill out.

Then every year I have to have a percentage of birds over 4 months old in flock tested.

If I want to also be AI CLEAR, I have to get that done separately. There is no fee at all for that testing as the govt issued grants to states to cover this.

If I want to go a step further and be cleared for Mycoplasma then that is another set of steps.

I plan to do Pollurum and AI...not the Mycoplasma unless someone here tells me I should

It does sound like a bit of work, but I think I am going to give it a go. I have left messages for the folks in my area who do the testing and am waiting to hear back from one of them.
