Thanks for all the kind words everyone. Yeah, if they were any bigger they'd really be frightening, but they also couldn't hide so well. I have to remove the hiding places.

Good luck! Are you also dusting? If so, the easiest way we found was to put the dust in an old sock, tie a knot in it and pat the walls, roosts, chickens, etc.
One sign that you might have these little buggers is by blood spots on the roosts. I remember, a few weeks after we got rid of these fowl ticks, my DS and I went out at night to make sure no more were crawling around. Well, on the roost we saw a new blood spot. My DS and I freaked out, until we noticed that one of the hen's toenails broke off and was bleeding. We were so not wanting to have to go through that again.
Our chicken pen is enclosed but every once in awhile, we get a dove who makes it's way in there. I think that is why I had a few more ticks this year. Luckily, I believe I caught them early enough that there was not a big population this year.
