Bedding for baby ducklings?

Are pine shavings ok for duckling bedding? The mama chicken (she hatched them) does NOT like the wood pellets. Im worried she will abandon them if she is not comfortable, however, Im worried the ducklings will die if they stay in the shavings and eat too much of them. Advice?

I had pine shavings with my broody mom and her 6 babies she hatched
I kept the feed and water on a boot mat to keep the shavings from going in the water
They were all perfectly fine

The vast majority of times people have no issue with shavings. It can occasionally happen that they will eat a shaving. Most ducklings give up trying to eat them fairly quickly. If you are really worried, I would provide chick grit in case they accidentally eat something. The grit will help break it down.

I have always used the pine shavings from TSC for ducklings bedding from day one, and never had a problem.
