bedding for chicks

hi I've been wondering what kind of bedding you should use for chicks
some books that I read said not to use pine shavings because it causes respiratory problems but others say it ok to use it
what bedding do you recommend

We only use bedding pellets and love them. You can find them at most farm supply stores.

We started off with pine, but everyone in the house started coughing and having trouble breathing(our brooder is the unused bathtub in the bathroom off the master bedroom). We switched to Aspen and haven't had any problems since. Take from that what you will.

I used to use shavings for horses which are dust extracted but they make such a mess! Now I just use shredded paper much easier to clan and its free!
