Farmers Chicken Farm
Chirping
Hi,
I have a lavender Guinea fowl who somehow got stuck on her back while we were at the store. In her attempt to get upright, she scratched herself raw under her wing.
We got a small coop kit for a hospital coop. We are keeping her there so we can easily catch her to clean/ slather antibiotic ointment on her wing 3 to 4 times a day. We keep rotating in other chickens (one at a time) from her flock mates so she isn’t alone.
My real question is: What can I use for bedding in the hospital coop that won’t get under her wing and get stuck in the ointment? The run part is on linoleum and easily swept/ sprayed off. The house part is still the original cedar wood that came in the kit and is a little difficult to clean.
Any ideas?
