I give mine the whole thing. When they were babies I would cut the egg up into small pieces . Now I set a whole boiled egg on their tray and they enjoy picking at it and scratching to eat it. I also give then their own eggs when I have to many I don't eat. I've actually always stayed with crumbs for mine. The pellets available around me at the stores are too large for them to eat. I drizzle a product called kicking chicken on the crumbles and stir it. This is an oil with alot of vitamins and healthy fats.they love it and it helps keep their plumage beautiful. I actually never give mine grit. They only eat feed mealworms and boiled eggs nothing else so I guess that's why they have no issues. I tried to give then grit about 4 months ago and they never touched it. If yours have access to other food such as grass or something then provide them with grit now. If they only eat feed then they might not need it but if you feel like you want to put it out then it wouldn't hurt. I'm no expert that's just how I've cared for and raised mine and it's went well.
