Bedding/Liner question...

if you use shavings they will put it in their water and food so you may want to try the paper towels. They do love the shavings. If you use shavings make sure they are pine though and not Cedar. Cedar is bad for their respiratory.

I've used pine shavings for 4 sets of chicks and never had any problem before. Today I picked up some of that rubbery shelf liner from Lowes, everyone is telling me it works great. Just dont use news papper by itself. dont want spraddle leggs.

My brooder is a large size plastic storage tub with the lid cut away and fencing taped/tied on...allowing for ventilation and the heat lamp while keeping the girls in their brooder. I've been using pine shavings since the beginning and my girls love it - even at 9 days old they like to nest and dust in it!

i raised my crew of 27 in a kids pool, i use pine shavings with paper towel over the shavings.. it works out great.. go to the post office and get the long 3 sided priority boxes they are free, cut them in half and use the sticky side to tape them together they go around the inside of the pool great.. today at 2 week i just moved my babies into a critter play pen they love it.. i will post a pic later if you want to see?

I did want to see the cardboard and how you used it, but I love how you've done this...it looks similar to what mine will look like (except our pool is green lol) But please don't go to any trouble!

Thanks!
