Anybody use hemp bedding for quail? How about outside (does it need to be replaced if rained on?, currently using sand). It seems much more expensive than pine but claims to be much more absorbent, have you found this to be the case? Thanks!

Sand isn't really absorbent. If you have water sitting, then yes, maybe you could say that it "absorbed" the water though, but it's still there and is wet.

Maybe it's the thought that the poops get buried in it and you scoop them out with a cat litter scoop?

I dunno if what we use would work either as if our horse bedding pellets get rained on, we'd have a big pile of sawdust, as those DO absorb.

I know sand isn’t absorbant (that’s why I use it outside so when it does her rained on I don’t have to throw out the whole mess like I would pine). I don’t find the hemp that absorbent either, it floats, I wonder if this changes over time…time for another experiment!
