What can I use asbedding.

I used News Paper as chicks and everyday I would clean it out and put new Newspaper in the brooder. DO NOT USE CEDAR CHIPS!!

I use paper towels for the first week or so and then go with pine shavings.

Shredded paper might not be good because they eat everything. Just type in "Can you use cedar shavings as bedding for chicks?" in google. It has killed many chicks but some seem to be fine. I think it makes their imune system very weak so if they do get a disease they could die.

Yes! I have heard some chicks have been fine with them but most die so I just wouldn't risk it.

Newspaper is too slippery for chicks' feet. You could end up with some getting spraddle legs.

I used paper towels, then pine shavings when they were a bit bigger.

Any thoughts on laying a garbage bag down, then paper towels on top? or would this get too slippery? I'm planning on using a cardboard box for a brooder, but starting to think I won't be able to keep it clean.
