Hey,

I am thinking about buying a beehive like this one -

And have a few questions, how much honey will a hive like this make. And what are the basic supplies you need to keep bees.

I'm new to owning bees myself. But have been researching it for the past year. If you are just going to be wanting honey for your own family may I suggest bee-keeping in a TOPBAR hive? It is a lot simpler....easier on the bees.....natural......and did I mention EASY and cheap! Just google topbar beekeeping. There is a great site called BIO BEES....I belong to their forum.
I got my bees from the wild.....but you can also order the package bees.
Anymore questions feel free to ask. And with the Topbar hive the honey is COMB honey....you dont need the fancy extractors~

I don't really have anything to add other than this is really cool. I like watching bees on the cherry tree in the summer and I would like to take up apiculture but I just don't have the time. Good luck!
