Anyone have ideas for beefing up the run security?

I used hardware cloth on the run, but a neighbor's pit bull tore out a section and got one of my girls. Luckily I was outdoors and kept her from getting the others. She even had the audacity to come back within 30 minutes while I was still outside and trying to get the run fixed back up. I'm definitely in the process of "taking care" of her with some traps, but it left me wondering if any of you had ideas as to keeping any animal from doing that again, especially since we're often gone all day for work. I hate to think about what would have happened if I hadn't had the day off.

A pit bull got through this?

I would notify the dogs owners and suggest that they keep him away from your area.

Electric poultry net works great! I have an extremely tough pitbull mix who wants nothing more than to use my chickens as squeak toys. He touched the fence once over a year ago and won't go within 6 feet of it since. Yes the fence hurts but is not dangerous if you have the proper Energizer. (accidentally Shocked myself on it many many times). They are pretty much the last word in keeping land predators away from the flock.
