Been a while but OK What are they??

HEY ALL.. I"ve been MIA for a while.. Sharing a PC SUCKS with ALL CAPS!! LOL

and I been busy with my family. both Human and Animal

We lost one more chick since I last posted. I think it was a rooster and the other one I suspect to be one musta fought with it and killed him beacuse he was perfectly fine when I fed them in the morning... and I went out later in the afternoon to take lunch scraps to them and he was gone. looked like they pecked him almost clean of feathers ..

But I have left 6 of the chicks plus mom. 1 Im pretty sure is a rooster.. the other one I Thought was a rooster Im starting to Have 2nd thoughts.. Mabey U can cure that. But The one IM sure is a rooster Name is Red (red rooster). if it's Not. then it will just be Red lady lol. the other one I"m suspecting to be a rooster I named Roo (rooster) if it turns out to be a girl.. then it's Ruby (roo for short).

The rest Im postitive are female. as they have tiny Nubs on their beeks!!>

Im 100% sure I have at leas 1 rooster from the 2 I suspect are Roo's.. beacus SOMEONE has started to discover they can crow!!! heard it for the first time yesterday.. My son was watching for his bus n he heard one tryin so hard to crow LOL.. he ran to me MOMM THE ROOSTER IS STARTING TO CROW IT"S SOOO O CUTE.. cause he can barely get it out LOL>.. so I stood by the door n listen n sure enough u hear him trying to belt out a Crow!!. and it drove my dog bonkers!!!!..
hubby and I have tried to sneek to the pen to see who's Cowing of the 2 we suspect to be the roos

so U be the judge. I have some good pics (to me ) of the 2 I suspect to be Roosters. #1 im postive is.. he has a more Prominate Red THing on his beek. and He is very stunning if u ask me.. very pretty bird.. You will see why I call him red. he's the first 2 pics.

Then Roo (rooster) or (ruby) wichever we deterine it to be.. is such pretty colors. I call her/him my calico chicken.. i've never seen a chicken so pretty!!!.

PLZ DO NOT MIND THE MUDDY MESS!!! it was raining the other day when I took the pics.. and They do not care if it's raining they will still run to the outside run to greet me and the dish of food I"m bringin out LOL... so I took the chance to Snap pics

again do not mind the muddy conditions. it was raining!!! and they for some reason love to run in the mud LOL

Looks like all roos - they all appear to have hackle feathers. It's kind of hard to tell without full-body shots.

yea I figured the First pic is a roo.. his Comb is sooo much more Promant then the other one.. the others comb is half the size almost of the first birds picture. .. and I know one of them is Def a roo beacuse SOMEONE has started to Try and crow!!!!. Wish he'd do it when I was outside so I can see wich one is doing it...

willl they both crow? or just the one who's Asserted Domanance?

Possibly only the one who becomes dominant. My neighbor has buff orps and only one crowed, he got rid of it and lo and behold, there was still crowing... but he really does have the quietest rooster ever. The guy only crows maybe once a week. I'm getting his babies in the spring

what are hackle feathers? lol

My 14 yr old lieks the "calico" rooster best.. said it looks like he/she has hair beacuse the feathers on the back of the neck dont look like feathers. they look like The chicken has long hair LOL!!..

Now I am prettty sure Im rite.. but when they crow in the morn.. do they go to a high point in their enclosure or wherever they are. to crow? beacuse when I tried to sneek up on them to see who the Talker was. RED (first pic) was the only one UP on top of one of the Perch's... and he hop down n ran to the Outside pen where I normaly toss their feed. (as they always do when I come out to them.. "(OH BOY IT"S THAT LADY WHO HAS FOOD). lol.

Roosters have pointed "saddle" and "hackle" feathers. Hackle feathers are at the base of the neck, while saddle feathers are at the base of the tail. You can take a white piece of paper and look at the shape of the feather if you're unsure - roosters will have pointed and shinier feathers, while hens may have a "pointy" pattern but the feather itself will be rounded.

ok then I"m pretty sure My guess is rite and my 2 first pics are boys. The others do not look anything "featherly" wise like these 2.. and have nubby Combs and are nothing lke the first 2 pictures.

so Now to figure wich of them 2 are my Crower!!! LOL. I'm pretty sure it's the First one. he's bigger. and his face n Comb are so much more red then The other (why i call him red). and his feathers have a reddish color to them too...

hopefuly I can have them continue to live in harmony!! cause I love both the roosters, they are both so beautiful!!!. and will someday produce some Beautiful chicks!!
