Best of luck on your endeavor! I do hope all works out for you and that you are able to keep your 4 hens. I do not believe that keeping chickens on your own property against HOA rules is comparable to stealing, as was suggested. All "crimes" are not the same, and breaking HOA rules by keeping chickens in your yard is mild at best. You are attemping to work through your mistake the best way possible, and with a little luck, the system will work in your favor and you can enjoy your chickens in peace!

I got a sad call an hour ago. My favorite polish chick, Callie, who was rehomed to a place near my house so I could visit her and a few others regularly has died for unknown reasons. I am terribly upset about this since now bc of me, two beautiful and well loved babies have died. This sucks.

I am not going back on MY word anywhere. I am simply stating that if the Hoa is to shut me down for a covenance issue (which, by keeping them in my garage as stated I think in my first post) I have already done what it says, now if every other home was enforced up and down my street for everything from cars parked in the road and basketball hoops in their driveways, I wouldn't feel like this is an attack on these animals not on me breaking rules of the Hoa. But that is irelavent as I have already stated before.

Still no word from the city codes guy yet. I feel like a new dad pacing in the waiting room!!

I am not asking for a huge coming together for the love of me and my chickens, but I a, asking that my posts be read before my character is judged.

As always thank you everyone on all sides of this for giving me your advise and support....or, kick in the pants, lol, as seen needed.

And I have yet to get mad at anyone for disagreeing with me or anyone else here. As a matter of fact I have continued to thank everyone and apologize to those who I have angered.

I hope it works out

Thank you. I would love to be on the board but again that is pretty much a behind the scenes thing that no one ever sees. They keep getting themselves re elected over and over again and it is pointless. I am oping my eye on the prize that one day I will be out of here! I would like to become a bigger voice for the community though in the neighborhood as there are more people "like me" than "like them". Maybe one day, but first I have to deal with this drama!

Thank you bigdaddysmom I appreciate your kind words as well. I wish I could post more emoticons from this tablet but I would do the hug one of I could!

I'm glad things are looking up. I LOVE the chicken diaper/harnesses. It was just the laugh I needed while pulling my hair out trying to plan my coop. I live in a fairly rural area so there are no problems with me keeping chickens, BUT 2 of my neighbors, 1 across the road and one next door always know everything that is going on. I hear it from my mother later. It would almost be worth it to buy one of those just so I could take my chicken on a walk. Wouldn't that get them talking!

I also like the ground parrot idea :

That's the fun thing with playing with / tormenting HOAs. I used to live under one, and was the first in my area to put up a satellite dish. Can we say lawsuit? I won, and they lost around $35,000 in expenses. After that they were extremely harassing, so I dug into their elections and records, and had them pulled up for every election infraction, and was in the middle of getting elected to the HOA when I was forced to move by outside circumstances.

Pretty much, the HOA has more to fear from you, if you're diligent, than you do from them. As long as you observably follow their rules, they can't touch you...
