I have been gathering all sorts of information from your site and finally got around to joining. Seems to be a lot of very helpful information here.
I grew up on a 5 acre hobby farm in the Willamette Valley in Oregon. We mainly raised rabbits and chickens, but had goats, geese, a sheep, and an array of other animals. I currently live on the central Oregon coast which poses it's own farming issues. I have three children and in these uncertain times I am doing what I can to provide for them no matter what may happen. That includes producing our own food. Luckily our current place, while only 1/3 acre, is zoned RR, allowing us to have small farm animals. I breed meat rabbits and am currently building our chicken coop. I will be getting some good layers I hope. Have not settled on a breed yet. The kids want silkies, but I am not so sure. Either way we hope to have our coop down and chickens here pretty soon.
My end goal is to have a few acres and raise my rabbits and chickens, along with some milk goats, maybe sheep and a huge garden.
