Thanks for asking how my hens are doing. Well, here it is, two days later. I've been keeping the girls in the coop and today it's drizzling, so it's just as well. This morning four of them seemed to be fully recovered, but the fifth was still happy just to hide in a box. Around lunchtime I gave them some scratch which they consider a treat. . .I don't give it to them often because I want them to eat the good stuff. . .and they gobbled it down! That's good news. Just before I found them all out in the coop looking perky, even though two of them still have one eye still closed. So I guess tomorrow I'll try letting them out in the run and see whether there's any problem with the bees. I doubt it. I think this was probably a freaky happening (most beekeepers seem to agree with me). I'll just make sure to use smoke whenever I work the bees in the future, no matter how minimally. And I think I'll also make it a practice to put the hens in the coop when I'm working with the bees in the run.
