Sounds like yellow jackets. I had that problem once when I threw out egg for a penned up injured rooster. Had to stop doing that they were so annoying.

With only 10 bees on the feed I'd contribute it to the warming trend right now in Texas. Hitting 50 F will cause them to look around while they've the daylight and weather to do so.
Has anyone had a problem with bees swarming your chickens food?! It's getting pretty bad and it's still winter, I hate to think of how it will be in spring and summer....
