Hi all - so it's springtime and beehive clean up time. I was wondering: Especially this time of year, there are a lot of dead bees out of the hive. Is there any reason to not give them to the chickens mixed in as a treat? I'm talking normal bee die off, not pesticide induced.

Thoughts please?

Personally, I wouldn't give them to my chickens as a treat, just because they fuzz on the bees might not taste very good, and they have a stinger. I dont even know if chickens will eat a bee or not

I would toss them in for the chickens and see what happens. My chickens forage daily, but will work with the bees flying around them and ignore them. Since chickens will eat most anything, trying them with the dead bees might work. The dead bees may be so dessicated that the chickens aren't interested.
