Began our coop build

Finally a weekend without rain where we could start our build! Chicks come the week of the 23rd and while I know I have time, I also know that my little helpers make it hard to get much done without constant interruptions and sibling squabbles. Haha!!

We trekked to Home Depot this weekend and had them cut pur 4x4 posts and sheet of plywood. Made it easier to haul it home with kiddos in tow.

My 4yr old is particularly excited about learning to build!!

She will be a master of power tools before long!!

Lots of leveling took place. I gave up on any future work to the tree stump along the fence. Some stump out will take care of the rest of it. And I shifted the coop far enough away from it to still walk behind there as needed. It also will be the right amount of space to allow a 55 gal barrel to be back there for future rain collection.

Once the frame was done and plywood added to the top, i had to crawl underneath and add additional bracing for the plywood based on the cuts that made up the 6x6 platform.

I laid the vinyl on top and its loosely glued down. A) I didnt have enough glue and B) Im not entirely sure how to weigh it down to it sticks without bubbles.

Any advice appreciated on that!!
This wraps up our progress for March 10th!!

I originally am,--- but Smykowski on my mothers side.
Gulick used to be von Gulick around 1600s on my husband side

Another full weekend to really build!! We have 4 walls!! And every muscle in my body is sore!! Now to figure out the roof, and finish all the odds and ends of the coop and move on to the run!!
