Beginner's Hatch-A-Long

Does anybody know what day most eggs start to pip on?

They're supposed to start pipping on day 21, but they can start pipping early or later depending on the temperature they're incubated and other variables.

Anyone else have anxiety dreams about hatching? I dreamed last night I forgot to unplug & remove the turner and they started hatching in them!

yup i had ad ream they all died so i just bought a new incubator instead of using the borrowed one lol

I've never had a dream about it, but I do have to remind myself that if they don't hatch it may be a bummer but it's not the end of the world.

I've told myself the same thing. My problem will be my 2 yr old granddaughter who is now expecting to watch them hatch and then have chicks.

When the schools hatch eggs here the local extension office hatches eggs at the same time just in case something happens to the classroom incubator they will still have little chicks hatching. Not sure how they make the switch but something like that might work for you with your granddaughter. Maybe check into chicks at a local feed store just in case.
