Hey guys, I would love to raise chukar but I have heard they can be vicious and not easy to raise...so I'm considering it and if you could answer some questions I would appreciate it.
Are they like quail and can be raised in a pen? I will have 2' wide x 4' long x 18" tall quail pens that I would want to keep them in if it's a reasonable size. How many could grow to butchering size in that pen, or is it too small? I could also open it up to 2' wide by 8' long.
How many do you keep in a breeding pair/set?
Are the eggs edible? Good?
How long to grow to butchering weight? What is the butcher weight? Will they be fighting each other before then?
Can they be kept near coturnix quail?
Looking for another meat bird other than coturnix quail, I will keep a breeding pair/set in one pen and some for the table in grow out pen. If not chukar then I'm thinking I'll get some bobwhites! Thanks a bunch!
