Beginning the "research" phase

Working on a design now. 12 feet long and 6 feet wide. Back part would be 7 feet high with the front being 6 feet high to allow for rain/snow runoff. Roof would overhang a foot to keep water away from run/coop.

Husband suggested one of those pre-made ponds from Menards. Figured they would be thicker in strength than the kiddie plastic pools I have.

Can the enclosed coop also double as storage? As in, have high shelves for extra feed and supplies?

Most ducks will leave high spots like shelves alone. So storage should be fine. Your design looks great. It looks like you will have much more space than a few ducks will need. Remember that after you get some, you will probably decide that you should fill up that extra space with more.

Keep in mind that ducks will foul water quickly. Make sure that whatever you decide to use for a pool is easy to fill and refill. I have kiddie pools for mine which are very easy to dump when they get mucky. Preformed ponds are great since they are deeper but you can dump them, they need to be drained and you will be surprised at what the ducks decide to take into the pool with them that will clog the drain. ;) For me, if a natural water source isn't available, a kiddie pool is much easier than anything else.
