Beginning to lay-what's normal?

I have 6 8-week-old Coturnix hens who started laying this week. I've had them for 4 weeks, in their current outdoor enclosure for 3 weeks.
Day 1, 2 eggs.
Day 2, 1 egg
Day 3, 0
Day 4, 2 eggs
Day 5, 0.
Is this pretty normal? How long does it take to get into a rhythm of being daily layers? I don't mean to sound impatient, but as a new owner I don't have any reference for how the onset of laying goes. I don't know why they wouldn't be happy and healthy enough to lay. We had a bit of a chasing around/bullying issue going on which I posted separately about but it's improved some. Nobody is being relentlessly harassed, no injuries, just social pecking order stuff, I believe.
It's June and warm where I am, with plenty of day light, they have good feed with over 20% protein and 3% calcium.
Looking for shared experience stories with girls starting up laying.

I would like to know as well! We just got our first quail egg yesterday and they were 9-10 weeks old, so it seems yours started to lay earlier than mine in general...

Hello! I'm more of a chicken lady, but it sounds ok to me! As for how long it takes for them to get into the laying rhythm, I looked it up, and it said that quail's are most productive from 2 months old and on, so I would assume that would mean... if my math is correct... a few weeks????

Just went through this with some young birds. I started to get 8 eggs daily, but different colors. One day I'd get 3 blue and 5 speckled, the next day 5 blue and 3 speckled.

I was seriously beginning to wonder whether I should ask the crazy question of whether a bird could lay both normal and blue eggs. (Eventually the birds settled on 3 blue and 5 speckled. I'll never know what really went on. I'm pretty sure I checked thoroughly daily to collect all of them.)
