Beginning to think my Rooster is blind

I had a blind rooster(a little Banty Cochin) for over three years. In the beginning, I think his vision would sort of come and go. He would walk into walls and trees, but then he would wander across my garage and find the dogs water bowl to drink out of. My husband kept telling me he was faking it.

When he was younger he would always look at me with his head turned, probably using his one good eye. When you check him, make sure by your waving your hand by his eye that his reaction isn't to the slight breeze of your hand.

My boy lived in my heated garage away from the other chickens. He had a certain area where his food and water was, with a split piece of firewood to sit on. He knew when he was on his perch the food should be right in front of him. When I'd refreshen his feed or water, I'd tap his bowls and he would start eating. He really wasn't that much extra work to take care of, just needed his own space away from the other chickens. (I didn't appreciate his molting in my garage though)

His last summer I had him in a large pet cage next to the rest of the chickens. I think he liked hearing all the noises of the other chicken and yet he was safe.

He was definitely a novelty and people would always ask how he's doing and laugh about it. But darn I didn't think he was going to live that long! Usually when a chicken enters my garage (sick bay - where I'd bring my sick or droopy chickens) they never lasted very long.
