Beginnings of crossbeak??

We picked up these sweet little Easter Eggers earlier in the week and I was looking them over tonight before bed and it looks like this baby’s beak may be a little off kilter. Not the best picture between a wiggly chick and my basement lighting… but am I seeing things? Or are we going to have a crossbeak baby?

Finally got a better-ish close up picture. It’s not super noticeable, but it’s like her beak doesn’t close completely.

Hmm, still hard to say for sure at this stage but you should have a good idea within a couple of weeks as crossbeak becomes more obvious as they grow.

EEs are sadly more prone to them than other breeds/types, I've had 3 EEs and 2 had mild crossbeak.

Keep an eye on it to make sure it's eating and drinking without issue, that's about all you can do at this point. When he gets older you'll have a better idea about what maintenance, if any, will need to be done to help it along.
