So... today we got our first snow. The girls wanted nothing to do with it. They wouldn't leave their pen. But they sure were excited! I also noticed a new behavior, and wondered if it was due to the excitement, or possibly an indication that they might be laying soon. I realize this often doesn't happen this time of year. They are RIRs, and are 18 weeks old.
A couple of them have been more vocal than usual, and turning their tails to the side. One of them did a squat, when I touched her back. The surprising thing to me is that she stood there and didn't run away. My girls don't like being pet. Any ideas??

The squat to show submission. That's what they do when they are ok with a roo breeding them. Your like their roo and they know that you provide for them. So they show you submission. They are probably going to lay very soon! But snow is also new to them so that may be why they are excited 😁
