Once broody and if no hatching is occuring will a hen leave the nest and eggs or do I need to intervene on her behalf?

It really depends on the hen. Some will give up not too long after 21 days and others will continue to sit for months. If a hen doesn't have any fertile eggs and you don't plan on getting her some or trying to have her adopt day-olds I think it's best just to break her from being broody. They don't produce any eggs while broody and don't take very good care of themselves so I'd rather just stop the process.

I had a broody that was given to us, she was broody for about almost 30 days, she quit on her own. The eggs were not developed,.Before she quit I noticed an opened egg in the nest not sure if she cracked it open herself then quit or maybe it was just an accident
