Behaviors in Roosters with no Hens

Thank you keesmom. I found him! I really appreciate everyone's help, I would hate to put him in a situation that is worst then him terrorizing my hens. You have saved his life.

I read your other post about his behavior. Problem is, cockerels mature more quickly than the pullets. His hormones are off the chart, and he is ready to breed but they aren't. Yet. Even when they do start laying they still have to get the hang of things. At that point what you are seeing could very well calm down. If his behavior does not change, or he becomes human aggressive, then honestly he wouldn't be worth keeping.

Do you have them in a pen or free range? If you have them in a pen you could divide a section off for him for the day, until your pullets get a few weeks older. That way he could be with the pullets but not harass them. If free range you could try a tie out.

Thank you keesmom, you have been incredibly helpful. I know you are right, he will grow out of it, and the hens will get used to him, unfortunately I don't have a set up to keep separate long term until the hens catch up with him. They are so afraid of him, I had to put him in a dog crate on the porch. He is miserable not being with them, but they have flooded in the few days they have been separated from him. He is a good bird, but unfortunately not for these birds. Maybe when my girls and flock get a bit bigger I will be blessed with a beautiful rooster again. I will miss his singing to me in the morning.
