Yesterday, one of the chicks is missing at dusk, and I look all over the place - acres, not a pen! - for a hiding 10 week old that is on the wild side in the pouring rain (so grateful for the rain every step of the way as we are struggling with drought) and finally give her up as Gone, lock the coop and go to bed... but this morning open the coop door and out she comes with the others. ??? I thought maybe she buried herself between the big hens, but so unlikely as none of this clutch is buddies with the big panty girls yet. Tonight the same thing. Everyone where they should be but Annie is nowhere to be seen. I look between the hens, under the rooster, in every corner and I can't find her. Until I do. Always, all your life, for whatever reason, remember to look up.
