New Behavior, I have never seen this before. One of my hens went onto the nest for a minute or so then got off and went to the rooster and made sounds and the rooster went to the nest with the hen with him. He got into the nest and scratched around some and the hen was in with him. Then he got out and she sat down like she was going to lay and he stood by for a little while. It is like she went and ask him to do something for her to the nest. I injoy just sitting and watching my chickens a lot and I am learning a lot of behaviors I did not know.

Listen closely the next time that you see this happen. You will hear the rooster making a 'trilling' sound telling the hen, "Yep, this is a good place to lay 'our' egg.""
