Behaviour question

Hello

I have a question regarding the behaviour of one of my quails. It often opens its beak and pulses its neck feathers. I have heard this can be because they are too hot but he is always just chilling on the sofa with me.

Is this a normal behaviour? He doesn't make any sound when he does it. I have a video of it but can't work out how to share it.

Ah, okay, thank you. He does tend to do it when he can't see the other quail he lives with so I wonder if he is stressed at not being able to see him.

Quail are nervous creatures, so that is a possibility. They don't like change in general.
