I spent about a week this month building this coop and run for the chicks I hatched and bought this spring. The run is built from two dog kennels and has been lined with wire to keep the chickens in and the predators OUT. The coop is built on a foundation of treated landscape timbers, fastened together with lag bolts. It features a sliding door for entry/exit, two windows and a floor-level vent. So far they seem really happy in there. Once the large-breed laying hens are big enough to go in the main chicken yard with the others, this will become the permanent home for my bantams. It's light enough to be movable, but strong enough to keep those nasty raccoons out. I'm pretty happy with it so far. Still have a few paint touch-ups to complete whenever it stops raining.
