I bought some "BEI" ducklings at a flea market. Now that they are grown I'm wondering if thats what they really are. They don't have the green shean on them and they have white places one on its chest and one on the tips of its wings. I know I don't want to breed them next year to my true BEI. Would they be considered call ducks? Crystal

Pictures would help.

Cayugas have a bad habit of turning white as they get older and I -think- BEIs do the same. You can't show them when the white comes in, but they'll still breed true black. If you get any ducklings from them with white feathers at a young age then you either got culls or mixed ducks.

I agree. A picture would definitely help

Edit: Just reread your post. By "older" I mean a few years old - as in an old hen or drake. If you got them as ducklings and they have white then they're definitely culls or mutts.
