Should bantams be separate from large size roos?

Yes, especially with a Delaware rooster! Some would say it depends on the rooster, but you're talking about a Delaware here, something I know fairly well. My Delaware, as are most Delawares, is a prolific breeder, even with 25 full size hens and he would likely kill a tiny bantam hen, trying to mate her.


My banty Cochin lived with the main flock for years and my Barred Rock would never mate her, but the moment my Delaware saw her, he was after her with a vengeance and I had to rescue her. As hard as he can be on the big hens, I'd hate to see what he would have done to my tiny hen had he caught her.
