hi everyone we hatch some D’Uccle chicks just over 3 was ago and a surprise Frizzle we love them all very ,ugh and are very attached to them all I see combs on all of them growing at different rate and I was wondering how old they need to be before you can tell if they are roosters or not?
I’m quite worried we will have heaps of roosters.
Any advise would be great also on how loud these little roosters might be?
Our Frizzle seems a little bigger then the others it did hatch first and is a different shape to the others so not sure if that’s why she/he looks bigger but I’m just hoping for a hen

I can tell at 3 weeks. This is my breed of specialty.

Their crow is pretty loud.

I will get photos when the kids get home to help me hold them so I can get a better shot I’m pretty sure I have 3 roosters but fingers crossed I’m wrong I’m hoping the general sounds of Sydney (traffic, noisey neighbours, dog and squawking cockatoos and rainbow lorikeets) drowns their crowing out because I really would like to keep them all if at all possible

Maybe my D'Uccle just needs to practice more, but his crow is so tiny and adorable. It is nothing compared to our full size roos, and is a lot quieter than my Sebright x bantam stags. Looking forward to photos of yours!
This gives me hope.

Sorry guys I had a busy weekend and didn’t get back on here anyway I have a new problem our littlest chicken who is significantly smaller and had leg problems from first born needing a splint as one leg was stuck out the front has started to fall forwards when walking she still eats and tries to play with the others but is so small I think she may be emaciated I’ll attack a video of her walking if she goes slow she’s ok but if fast she falls forward. Could be the original leg issue would love some thoughts her leg feathers are huge not sure if this contributes or not pls help.

She is so much bigger then the others I think because it’s a frizzle but not sure
