Belly scab

I'd take care that the metal cups don't get too hot, you may need to move them to the cooler side.

This chick was probably a bit shrink wrapped or may have even been a sticky chick where "goo" from the egg stuck to the down. Once she starts to heal and lose her down, all that will slough off and she should begin to feather out like the rest.

If she's eating/drinking and moving about with the others - that's the most important thing right now.

Good point. I’ll check the cup for sure but I think it’s actually plastic lol. It’s from a magic set of some sort. An old toy.

I hope she is okay. Thanks everyone for your help with these babies.

I just picked up six chicks today. I thought when I was handling one that it had some caked poop but now I realize it is a scab on it’s belly button area. It did not pull off but there was a spot of blood and the area around it doesn’t look great. Like dried poop is around it but not sure it’s that. I’m worried it’s infected. The chick is eating and drinking and acting normally at this point. Is there anything I can put on it? Anything I can do? I’ll add ACV or oregano oil to the water. The vent looks clear.
I have a chick with the exact same thing and the first day I tried to clean it and stopped messing with it because I realized it it what I believe is the umbilical cord! The vent is totally unblocked and clear and it’s 2 weeks later still very much attatched and she is in perfect health I watch it and am waiting for it to fall off!
