can you go to the site and pick out chicks from belt, or do you have to order like everyone else? I live only about 2 hours away.

I mean the actual location/hatchery, not the web site.

I don't know too much about Belt.

Did you ever consider buying chicks from a farm store.

I got most of mine that way and they're a few days older. Always had real good luck with them too.

Just thought it might be worth a try.

Good Luck

I called them last year because I only live about a half hour from them. They said I either have to order, or contact a local feed store and see if they would order what I want. I asked our feed store and they included my order in theirs and I just had to go pick them up the next week. It worked out great. I also know that they get rid of a lot of their breeding stock in the late fall. I don't know what condition the birds are in, but they are already grown and laying, so you wouldn't have the wait. If you buy the hens, you can get as few or as many as you want.

My chicks are coming from Belt on the 24th! I live near Redding CA, and I wanted to order from somewhere close to home. I didn't thought about picking them up, but that would be a long drive... Plus, I don't think you can pick them up from the hatchery.

Does anyone have pics of their birds from Belt? I have been dying to see some.

I've got six Barred Rocks from belt. I got them at the local feed store. They're messy little girls, but I love them.

Btw, the other chicks are Silver Spangled Hamburgs from McMurray.
