Again I agree...I have been looking for any hint of this breed...anywhere and have yet to find it...where did the guy you got them from get them?

A friend of his gave them to him when he and his wife got divorced.

How far back can you trace their lineage?

Thanks. I'm okay. Getting 'attacked' lets me have the fun of defending myself.

And everyone is using the excuse that there is no alternate information on this breed. Of course there isn't. Why do they think I started this thread....

Like I said, People are readily willing to argue against something they are very uneducated about...

Hmm, I'll take that as a challenge. I'll try to trace their lineage. Now where's my detective hat?

Sorry. Not until the customs backs off a little on the red tape...

"Did anyone unknown to youask you to stow anything in the duck, Sir?"
"Wait! Don't go through yet! I think this duck is ticking!"

Laugh if you want but fertile duck eggs make wonderful containers for virus, both active and dormant. And Bioweponds are much better than Nucks or chemical agents because they are self spreading. I expect customs to get very tough indeed on eggs. all that is needed is one attempt.

I didn't mean that as anti-biosecurity... that was just an extended 'No'.

I'm not trying to attack you btw! I'm sorry if you got that impression. I just don't think this is a breed YET...but it could have the potential to become one.

Have you tried contacting this organization? They might be helpful to you.

I think the reason people are so skeptical is because a different variety is rare enough, but an actual new breed is almost unheard of.
Tracing the lineage is crucial in your endeavour.

Oh, I know your not attacking me.

So how does one go about getting them traced?

Our standards down here in the States are pretty strict, as far as SOP. That's what most of us are basing our comments on-the way a bird is accepted HERE. As far as Canada, I have no idea so that's why I suggested the IWBA.
Just trying to get a variety recognized by the APA/ABA down here is a very difficult and time consuming process. You have to have so many breeders and so many birds involved that actually meet the standard-very difficult to do, but it IS doable with a lot of work.
Contact the IWBA and they can direct you on how to proceed with tracing the birds history. Start with the person you got them from and go backward from there.
