I wouldn't say they hurt, but they are definitely pokey. At the zoo, we hold them with gloves, but their spikes aren't terrible. They are illegal here in GA as well, and I probably wouldn't have the opportunity to hold them if it wasn't for our zoo.

So far I am really liking the idea of rats. There were a couple of really awesome wildlife/exotics vets I met last weekend at the info session who I can talk to about the implants. Maybe one of them would be willing to "experiment" for me, especially if I show interest in learning to do it myself.

I have a really nice ferret cage I will bring along with me. I think two-three rats would be very happy in it! I've wanted rats for a while but it's been a few years since I've researched them since I've been living at home
