Production reds are great layers but are kind of stupid when it comes to predators, most of the birds I lose to predators are these.

Regular Rhode Island’s will be much better in this regard.

Like someone else said, Leghorns are the best when it comes to predators. Those little stinkers are fast, and always on the alert. And the fact that they are decent flyers means they are the best survivors I have ever found. The other day coyotees hit my flock. I ran outside and saw my fat armerican hens running around on the ground while the leghorns were on the roof watching the carnage below. Just wish they laid brown eggs.

At 1/2 they will go broody six times a year.

woah i didn't know game fowl were so broody. I was thinking about getting a few oriental games next season, but will have to reconsider that now.

Egyptian Fayoumis are good egg layers that are very alert and they avoid predators easily. Though, like Leghorns, they are not fond of being held at all and are very jumpy birds.
