I am currently using puppy pads for my brooder floor, but they just started tearing them up. Does anyone have a suggestion for an easy set up for older kids?

Thanks

I use old thick towels and throw them in the washer with bleach between batches of chicks. Old throw rugs work good too.
I usually move mine out of the the house to the brooder in the barn at around 3 weeks old. I will have pine chips or hay on the floor.

i use pine shavings as soon as they exit the incubator. they are in the incubator for 2 full days after hatching. I like that the pine holds heat and the birds know to make a nest and keep warm under the heat halo.

I also use pine shavings from day one. Warm, soft, dry, easy to keep clean. Layer of newspaper on the bottom, shavings on top. I add shavings occasionally as needed and once in a while I do a complete cleanout, just roll up the papers, dump and re-bed the brooder.
