Best bird to buy for a birth day

I like the African Laughing Doves, they were given to me by a friend. I don't know much about them. The internet basically says they are a lot like our common wild ringneck dove. They are brown and have a pretty throat patch of black checks. They are very quiet, much quieter than the white doves. I think I have a pair, I am getting eggs, but I have not put a nest box in yet. Will be doing that in the next day or two and we will see.

I have one pair (I hope) of Red Diamond Doves. The are still very young. Hoping they will be laying soon. They live with my finches.

Yup those are Senegal doves I have always wanted a pair of those they are on the rarer side of doves they were given too you

Yes, a friend gave them to me. He said they were sold to him as a pair and they did not lay eggs for him. I think they are young birds, as they are laying for me. I just need to get a nest in there for them, they laid in the food dish. I am hoping they are a real pair. Will have to let you know. I never asked him what he paid for them, what are they worth? They are the quietest birds.

Wow, I had no idea what they are worth. I will have to thank my friend again! I think he was too impatient and did not realize they were so young. I have no idea why he bought them, he is not that much of a bird person, but he bought them and the Diamond Doves and when they did not have babies right away, he did not want them anymore. Then he had some quail and has gotten rid of most of them. He does not know what he wants really.
