Hello! Just wondering what people’s opinions might be on which brand/type of starter chick feed is the best overall for a healthy feed and help chicks grow up in a healthy way! I currently use Dumor Chick Starter/Grower 20%. Any opinions of the feed I use?

I used Dumor for a while but didn’t like the chemical smell. Switched to Purina and am happy. Even their medicated starter only smells like grains or fresh bread, no weird chemical smell. I’m sure all the big brands are totally fine though, this is just personal preference.

I feed my Chicks, Pullets and Hens both Purina and Nutrena Naturewise feeds.
I feed day old chicks Purina Medicated Start and Grow for at least 10 weeks, then when bag is empty I switch to Non-medicated Nutrina Naturewise Starter Grower feed and continue to feed it after they start to lay with a container of Oyster Shells separately.
If Nutrina isn't available when I'm at TSC I will buy Purina Non-medicated Start and Grow or Flock Raiser. GC

I tried Dumor but thought it was too dusty.
I ended up trying a local mill because of the price but was skeptical.
Ended up being a great decision. It was cheaper, they did better on it and ate less.

I use Grubblies layer feed. I got by with one 40 lb bag per month until I got ducks and now its two and I have to add nutritional yeast for the quackers. I only have 5 chickens, 1 year old. I tried to switch to a cheaper feed last fall and they woildnt eat it, so I guess I spoiled them. They free range and have about 2 acres including woods so maybe I get by with so little feed because they are eating a lot of other stuff...
