Best brand of food for chicks?

I like Nutrena Naturewise feeds and Purina feeds. They carry both at TSC. I buy whichever one is fresher. I used Purina medicated Start & Grow with my chicks with good results.
The big reason I like these brands is they have Prebiotics and Probiotics for a healthy gut and immune system. (There are other brands that have these, read the label). Cause I don't ferment. If you ferment then that won't matter.
I store my feed in my house in the original bag, tightly closed with a bag clip. Feed will go bad, quickly in hot temps, losing its nutritional value and get mouldy in high humidity.
I only dump half a bag in the six gallon galvanized can, that I keep in the coop after I empty the can. And I don't refill that can till I need to refill the feeder. And let your chickens nearly empty the feeder monthly, and clean the feeder. Powder will build up in the bottom of gravity feeders and spoil. 20160509_122326.jpg GC

Most medicated chick starter has amprolium, which is not an antibiotic, and slows the growth of coccidia, a common intestinal parasite that can sicken and kill chicks. Chicks are most often vaccinated against Marek's disease, which has nothing to do with amprolium or coccidia. Mary

Remember that Mareks vaccinations may.... or they may not provide protection from Mareks disease. The Mareks virus has (I think) 7 major strains and these strains vary greatly from place to place.

Thank you so much for all the info!!

Great, I'll keep that in mind! Thanks!
When buying animal feed or Diesel fuel it is usually best to buy from the largest feed mill or filling station. For the simple reason that feed mills and filling stations that sell a lot of feed or fuel usually have fresh food or fuel on hand.
