Whats the best brand of small incubators. I'm wanting one for the kids for Christmas. Something that will hold more than 1 dozen eggs and are newbie friendly. We have no experience hatching eggs.

I'm so glad you asked this. I'm using an LG forced air and I might as well be sitting on them myself. After the first hatch was a disaster I took out the automatic turner and set a timer to check the temp every half hour. It really varies. I get up in the night at least three times and if it's low I'm real reluctant to move it up at all because it will spike to 102 in no time. Last night it was under 99 all night.
People said they love their Brinsea so I got one of those and everyone hatched a couple of days early so I know it ran high. If you follow the threads of people who have the small Brinsea their hatches aren't great. Mine had black mold in the water well after a couple of weeks. Never had mold in the LG.
I'm thinking about getting one that is $119.00 on EBAY but someone was talking about less than stellar hatches with it and they don't know why.
In the Kindergarden classes they use Lyon. They're a little pricey but you can get them on EBAY and they have a good view of the eggs and good hatches even being left alone on week-ends. I might go that direction.
Would love to hear input on this or even when people have great or horrible hatches mention what they are using.

I am looking for an incubator too and have heard good stories about Hovabators but I would like to hear others opinions of a relatively small size bator (less than 50 eggs).

I have been told several times to get the Genesis Hova Bator 1588, you will need to get the egg turner for it. #1611. I am looking at it right now in the Randall Burkey Catalog. They are only $10 cheaper on ebay. I would rather buy from a catalog. its www.randallburkey.com or 800-531-1097.

So many people said you just put your eggs in and it does the rest. It holds up to 41 eggs i think.
