I've had my shareof different breeds of chickens over the years. From RIR's, Sussex, EE's, new hampshires, sexlinks,GLW, and many mix breeds. However, none have attached to my heart as my silkies have. LSAT night while putting my 6 week silkies back inside for the night loretta my splash decided that she would exit the cage and hop onto my lap. Cuddle up to my arm and peep contently. Not to mention Roxy my blue followed suit and hopped up and joined in. I can honestly say that in the 6 years of chicken ownership this was the best night I have ever had! Anyone else have chickens that are particularly close to your heart like my silkies are to me? Would love to hear your story!

I like sitting in my chair and have them all come and sit around me after treats and begin preening. Chickens can be so relaxing and therapeutic. And then they talk like I understand what they are bok boking about. I like leghorns. They just haven't learned to be that friendly yet. They sure like eating from the hand though.

Seramas without a doubt. Phoenixes and silkies would be a close second. I'd keep some silkies, but they wouldn't do well with either the inside chickens or the outside chickens. My Serama house hen is imprinted on people and is extremely aggressive with other chickens. Same goes for Cleo, my Cochin bantam.

I, too, have noticed how amazingly friendly silkies are. I have two silkies and one silkie cross and they are just the best! They're so cuddly, soft, sweet, friendly, and tame. My second favorite breed is old English game bantams. I have two right now and they are so amazingly laid back and sweet. And even better yet, we just hatched a silkie OEGB cross! I can't wait to see how she turns out.
