Best breed to go Broody

My most dedicated broodies are dark Cornish and light Brahma. 2nd best, black Australorp. All three breeds have been excellent moms.

Hands down silkies. My little white hen hatches raises the chicks and 2 weeks later is sitting again.

I agree with DTchickens, any game hen will go broody. My OEGB hen lays 7 eggs and goes broody. The only problem with her is that she babies the chicks FOREVER!!
I have heard silkies are really good broodies, I personally haven't had any broody silkies yet, but of my chickens, my OEGB hen, an OEG hen, and a silkie/OEG mix hen have all went broody at least twice this year!
ETA: I have only had my chickens since June, so they have gone broody twice in 6 months.

My turkens were great broodies. They hatched out two clutches of eggs for us, and the second time there were two turkens that sat the nest together and raised the babies together. Loved them!

Silkies it is, mine are more apt to be broody than not.

OK thanks for all the wonderful input, the next question is Where around ohio can I get some OEGB and or SILKIES? Anyone know?

Well, I'm not for sure, but if it's anything like here, it seems everyone has OEGB. Check out craigslist, you should be able to find some on there. Unless you want eggs, then check the BST section.

A lot of bantams go broody. The buff orps I have go broody like crazy

Silkies - mine lay a handful of eggs, then go broody

I have 10 pullets - hatched April 8 - the first one went broody at 5 months and 3 more followed soon after. One of those is broody for the 2nd time - 2 weeks after the last time and she's only 8 months old!
