I can pet them when someone else is outside looking at them. They will actually come pretty close over to me and if they are looking at the other person, I can pet them a little bit and they aren't always too spooked when i do, but will still move away from me.
When i walk in with food though, they come pretty close up to me and wait for me to get out of the aviary so they can continue to the bowl.
