If you are just looking at chickens from the poll, I'd recommend Marans, Sussex, and Bielefelders. My Marans have been friendly, tolerant of most weather, and good layers of 5 eggs week. I don't personally have Sussex or Bielefelders, but I have heard they have similar qualities. Ameraucanas are also good for those traits.
I have some 4 week old marans and love them so much. We have some Sussex coming in June along with a black Copper Maran roo

Our buff Orpingtons are sweet as well but we didn’t handle ours as much as our first and third batch. Our EEs lay religiously and are very friendly. They are of course a branch off of Ameraucana but I am told with less health problems.

Cochins are awesome if you want a sweet broody breed.

My favorite breed is Ameraucanas, they are super sweet and adorable plus colored eggs. Easter Eggers (often confused with Ameraucanas) are a good alternative, and they are much easier to get a hold of, you can get them from any hatchery or feed store unlike Ameraucanas.

Orpingtons are okay, I’ve heard they are sweet. Doesn’t necessarily have to be buffed colored, color doesn’t make a difference. :idunno
